Click here to view a large image This beautiful garden summerhouse is an elegant example of the American Federal style: a style influenced directly by the work of Scottish architect Robert Adam.
The festoon and urn decoration above the rectangular second story windows are typical Federal decorations. The balcony is unique being such a complete and accomplished design of this style.
It was commissioned by Elias Hasket Derby from the Architect Samuel McIntire. Purchased in 1901 and given to The Danvers Historical Society in 1958 by the Endicott family. Click here to see detail of the doorway
