NSSGA and Rocks Build America FoundationIn 2007, Peggy Disney, Director of Communications for the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA), asked us to make thirty special versions of our sculpture of the US Capitol building.
These were to be presented to thirty prominent leaders in Congress to recognise their support of transportation issues vital to the aggregates industry. The sculptures were presented on the evening of January 30 to celebrate the successful endowment campaign for the Rocks Build America Foundation.
Some of the members of Congress who received a sculpture included: Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), Sen. Christopher Bond (R-Mo.), Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Sen. John Warner (R-Va.), Rep. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), Rep. Peter DeFazio, (D-Ore.), Rep. John Duncan (R-Tenn.), Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.), Rep. James Oberstar (D-Minn.) and Rep. John Olver (D-Mass.)
The sculpture has a black wooden base with an inscribed silver plate, and was presented in a black velvet lined box.
