This is the third sculpture we have worked on with Washington National Cathedral.

The model detail is made in plaster as usual, the glass window was produced by Mara and Drew of Winged Heart, Cumbria, England

Washington’s National Cathedral’s west façade houses the west rose window, which incorporates more than 10,000 separate pieces of glass in a composition nearly 26 feet in diameter. Installed in 1976, the creation rose was designed by master stained glass artist Rowan Le Compte(American b.1925) in keeping with the iconography scheme of the Cathedral.

This rose window design is inspired by the words of the Book of genesis, " and the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep…and God said Let there be Light."
